Decision Stories
Why Red Clay Interactive chose Daptiv?
Interview with Dawn Barron, Director of Operations
What drove your company to look into collaborative business software? What were your motivations, and what were your business needs?
-
We have been experiencing a growing complexity in projects and number of projects. Project and Account Managers are having to spend too much time entering data into various documents that are located in different areas on the server rather than being able to spend time with customers or assisting other employees. Its becoming more difficult to keep track of all the tasks needed to be completed for a project and some tasks, particularly monthly maintenance work for clients, were slipping through the cracks.
We needed a centralized method to track, schedule, and communicate tasks within the agency in order to:
- be more organized
- reduce stress on staff
- reduce time being spent on maintaining multiple documents/spreadsheets
- ability to better track metrics such as actual versus estimate time spent on projects keep or improve customer relationships
What process did you go through to select a vendor? What were your criteria and what importance did Software as a Solution (SaaS) / On-demand play?
-
We researched a number of different applications online. We received feedback and recommendations from other colleagues, as well as personal experience with various applications from previous companies we had worked at.
We needed something that would be a good fit for the size company we are. If there were too many extraneous features, it would only serve to slow down our process flow, etc. and impede adoption. We wanted something that would be logical and user-friendly. Having a web-based application really appealed to us as employees from time to time travel for business and still need a way to stay in the loop and complete tasks.
In addition to Daptiv, what other vendors did you look into? Why didn’t you choose them?
- Microsoft Project
- Basecamp
- Advantage
- Client and Profits
Either they were geared more towards large enterprises or were not as customizable. They were not as user-friendly or were missing features we felt were important to our specific company and industry.
Why did you choose Daptiv?
-
It’s web-based so users could accomplish work remotely if needed. It’s a centralized source for project scheduling, internal communications, file saving, file versioning, time tracking, and tracking metrics. It seems to be the most user-friendly and has features that are most applicable to our business and therefore, we felt it would be more easily adopted by employees. Also, a colleague in the office had previously used Daptiv at another company, had a good experience with it, and felt that this could really meet our needs here at Red Clay.
What do you like most about Daptiv PPM or Daptiv as a company?
-
See answer above. Plus, everyone we’ve spoken to (from the sales staff, training staff, to our solutions consultant) has been friendly and eager to answer any questions or concerns we might have.
