What drove your company to look into a PPM service? What were your motivations, and what were your business needs?

• We constantly have between 10 and 40 active projects run by teams in US, Europe and Asia and needed a project management system that can be used cross functional and across time zones without having to disperse information

What process did you go through to select a PPM provider? What was your criteria in selecting a PPM provider?

• An online or hosted solution; we are not in the business of running servers
• Solid performance and support from Vendor
• Full PM functionality including resource management, issue tracking and ability to customize and add own data
• Ability to extend system access and usage to our Business Partners

In addition to Daptiv, did you look into other PPM / Business software providers? If so, which ones did you look into and why didn’t you choose them?

• MS Project Server; Not hosted [24/7 support, Superior quality and reporting functionality - ability to define document/print format and download/print a decent Gantt chart]
• Ace Project; Poor support hours, No Backup, Not enough storage included [Customized branding and again the print/download format capability]
• Atlassian Jira; Poor support hours, couldn’t get along with user interface [More reasonable pricing – more seats included in base price, better out of the box reports and no additional charge for good reporting functionality]
• TechExcel; Too expensive, not suitable to our processes
• Virtual Project (vp.net.nz); Not enough functionality
• I’m not including the truly Enterprise class mammoth systems – no bearing

Why did you choose Daptiv?

• Online/hosted solution closest to MS Project that I can extend throughout my chain. Dynamic Apps looked promising and the Gartner evaluation vouched for a solid application – so I was not worried about support hours

• Online/Hosted solution with build in security allowing external usage
• Backup is in place – our data is secured
• Unlimited projects/tasks
• Expandability – although not powerful enough in my view
