Daptiv is the only On-Demand vendor in the Leaders Quadrant
In June, at the PPM Summit in Orlando, Gartner released its annual report on IT project and portfolio management applications, entitled Gartner Magic Quadrant for IT Project and Portoflio Management.. This report analyzes and reports on the state of technology to support these key processes, and evaluates the major software vendors in the field. The quadrant includes ‘challengers’, ‘niche players’, ‘visioinaries’ and ‘leaders’. The annual process to evaluate vendors on two axes (product vision and ability to execute) includes in depth demonstrations of product as well as customer interviews, and analysis of each vendors financial and business performance.
After being positioned for the past several years as a visionary, Daptiv is this year positioned in the leaders quadrant. We are the only on-demand vendor so positioned. We’re pleased to be acknowledged for our continuing work to deliver a high quality service, and also would like to thank you for your collaboration and insights which have contributed greatly to our evolution.

Steve Axford, Customer Support Lead
I originally hail from a small town in Northern Michigan. I graduated with a degree in English Literature from Michigan State University and after a year of traveling through the Asian subcontinent decided to follow the American compulsion and head out west. I discovered Seattle and worked for an art publishing company here before the travel bug bit again and I was off to Central America. When I finally considered returning home I discovered that it was Seattle that came to mind and so I made my way back to this beautiful city with the aim to stay awhile.
I started my career in technology at a small company in Bellevue which made software for the Events Industry and I was hooked. After a start in support, I moved into a training position and found a new twist to my nomadic lifestyle. I found it fascinating to explore a new company in a different part of the country each week and immerse myself in their processes in order to find solutions to make work easier and more productive. The company was eventually purchased by an Australian firm with a broad international clientele. This provided me with an opportunity to relocate to Manchester U.K. and use that as a base to train users around Europe and South Africa. I was again amazed to discover even more new perspectives on how work might be accomplished. But, in the end, it wound up being the 26 hour flight from Johannesburg to Seattle that allowed me the time to ponder the advantages of staying in one place for a while.
I’ve been at Daptiv for a little over a year now and have loved every minute of it. It’s been easy to find the excitement I gained through travel in the vibrancy and energy of Daptiv and the spectacular group of people who work here. After having had the opportunity to experience so many different workplaces throughout my career I’m happy to say that I’ve found my way to one of the best. There is a tangible feeling of excitement in both what we’ve been able to accomplish so far and how much more potential exists that we haven’t even begun to tap into. I look forward to many more great experiences here at Daptiv.
The Scoop on the Greenhouse from a Products Perspective
With Daptiv PPM Summer ’08, we've added the Greenhouse to the Daptiv Community, a new part of your experience with us as a vendor that makes you part of Daptiv’s innovation and product development processes. The Greenhouse is a new tab within the online user community where our users can submit product ideas, vote on ideas they would like to see implemented, and collaborate with the Daptiv Team on ideas that are currently in development. (Note: You must be a Daptiv customer and logged into the Community to access the Greenhouse tab.) The Greenhouse is an innovation within the product development community - so much so that the story made the cover of Business Week's "Innovation" section on June 11th: BusinessWeek article
The Greenhouse has been in a private beta since YouCon '08, our annual user conference earlier this year. During this period customer participation was fantastic with 241 ideas, 1380 votes, and 268 comments as of the official go live this morning. During the beta period we implemented five ideas with our Spring '08 release. More importantly, as a result of the voting that has occurred thus far we have adjusted our roadmap accordingly. We bumped two features up in priority so that we can deliver them sooner than planned (see the In Progress section under the greenhouse tab). We are looking to do the same with other ideas in the near future.
The Greenhouse has already become an extremely valuable application for the Daptiv Team and has changed the way we prioritize our roadmap and collaborate with our customers. We look forward to receiving thousands of ideas. Ideas will be aligned with our strategic direction and evaluated against the amount of effort required to implement them so that we are sure to deliver as much value as possible in a timely manner. Of course, not every idea will get executed, but the power of community will prevail.
The Greenhouse is live - let's see what we can grow!

1. What do you like most about working with your customers.
Ans 1. Every customer is unique in terms of the challenges they are trying to overcome in order to meet specific business objectives. To be able to provide product or a service that can help our customers achieve their desired business objectives results in a win-win relationship for us and our customers. The excitement and satisfaction of being part of this ever-evolving relationship is priceless.
2. What are the most common business challenges or business issues your customer face?
Ans 2. Most of our customers specially those belonging to the financial and telecom sector are faced with tough competition from their competitors. In a highly competitive environment, these customers are not only looking to maximize their profits by reducing the cost of operations but are also looking to increase market share by improving quality of service and introducing value added services. As their core business reaches a saturation point, it is important for these customers to gain operational efficiencies and think strategically in terms of their investments. Issues that didn't matter before are now being discussed in the board rooms and the focus on timely delivery of projects has increased tremendously.
3. Do you think that the market for PPM and collaboration solution is different in Pakistan than in the US and other parts of the world.
Ans3. I believe that in terms of project management, Pakistan's corporate sector is faced with similar sort of challenges as faced by the US and other parts of the world. Hence, the requirement for a PPM or a collaborative solution is no different. Organizations in Pakistan have realized the importance of project management as evident by the mushroom growth of PMOs and increasing demand for trained project managers. As these organizations move
upward on the project management maturity scale they are gradually embracing various Project management methodologies and software applications that can enforce those methodologies. There is a lot of focus on business strategy and aligning projects with strategy. This is where a good PPM application like Daptiv can play a vital role in helping these organizations achieve their desired business objectives.
