Mark W. Bailey - Managing Director, Draper Fisher Jurvetson Growth Fund
Mark Bailey is a Managing Director of the Draper Fisher Jurvetson Growth Fund. Prior to this role, he served as a Venture Partner for Draper Fisher Jurvetson’s DFJ ePlanet fund focusing on mid/late stage investments since 2002.
Mr. Bailey has 20 years of experience with entrepreneurial deal making in both investment and operating roles. Mr. Bailey has served as a high impact executive in both private and public high technology companies. He has played an integral role in building two companies whose revenues now exceed $1Billion/year: Symantec Corporation, where he led the M&A effort through most of the ‘90’s, and Healtheon/WebMD where he led the early M&A effort pre & post IPO. He also co-founded WebPartner and served as an executive at Portal Software.
His investment experience includes interning as an associate at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and serving as a General Partner at Venrock Associates. Mr. Bailey graduated Cum Laude with a B.S.E. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Princeton University, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
Steven B. Coburn - CFO, F5 Networks (Retired)
Steven Coburn is an experienced financial executive possessing a broad range of leadership skills. Over twenty-seven years of experience with the past ten years serving as a public company CFO. A business partner with a strategic perspective aimed at creating shareholder value. Strong communication skills coupled with excellent analytical abilities. Business sector experience includes technology/networking, teleservicing, publishing, marketing services and e-commerce.
Prior to joining Daptiv's Board of Directors, Mr. Coburn worked as the SVP and CFO for F5 Networks (NASDAQ: FFIV) from 2001 to 2005. Previously to F5, Mr. Coburn also served as SVP and Chief Financial Officer of Teletech Holdings (NASDAQ: TTEC) from 1995 to 1999.
In addition to accounting and finance, Mr. Coburn has had executive responsibility for other functions including Investor Relations, Human Resources, IT, Legal, Purchasing and Facilities Functions.
He also has co-authored over 15 published articles and case studies on various financial topics. Mr. Coburn is also a frequent guest lecturer at the University of Denver Graduate School of Business.
William B. Edwards - Managing Partner, Black Steel Investments
Bill Edwards has over 25 years of experience in Silicon Valley high tech companies, serving in a variety of engineering and executive positions. During that time, as a member of the senior executive management team and technical staff, he took four companies public: Siebel Systems, Macromedia, Frame Technologies, and Convergent Technologies.
From February, 1999 until Siebel System’s acquisition by Oracle in February of 2006, Mr. Edwards served as Siebel Systems’ Chief Technology Officer. From March, 1994 until February 1999, he served as Siebel Systems’ Vice President, Engineering. Mr. Edwards also served as CEO of Sales.com, an independent company which was folded into Siebel Systems to become Siebel OnDemand. He was part of the founding executive team which built the company from scratch to its peak of 8000 employees and $2B in revenue. Prior to Siebel Systems, Mr. Edwards was responsible for Graphical Authoring Systems at Macromedia. He also served as Senior Vice President, Engineering, Research and Development of Frame Technology, a document authoring software company, where he was responsible for development of all Frame’s products including their flagship product FrameMaker.
Earlier in his career Mr. Edwards held Engineering Management positions at Convergent Technologies and Apple Computer. He began his career at Intel, developing optimizing phases for their compilers. Mr. Edwards holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Rutgers University.
Eric Filipek - Director, Kennet Venture Partners
Eric Filipek is a director of Kennet Venture Partners. He is currently on the board of Resilience and Consul Risk Management. Prior to joining Kennet, he spent six years with Broadview International's Network Technology global market group.
Mr. Filipek has extensive M&A transaction and advisory experience in the telecommunications equipment, telecommunications software and network integration services sector. Earlier, he worked as a product marketing engineer at Intel.
Mr. Filipek holds a BS degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Jeffrey A. Pancottine - President & Chief Executive Officer, Daptiv
Jeff Pancottine joined Daptiv in April 2006 to lead our rapid growth and continued market leadership. As Daptiv’s President & CEO, Mr. Pancottine is responsible for directing the strategic development of the company and driving new product and partnership opportunities.He brings over 20 years of senior management experience in the high tech sector successfully leading companies to rapid growth and market dominance.
Mr. Pancottine comes to Daptiv from F5 Networks (NASDAQ: FFIV) where he served as Senior Vice President (SVP) and GM since 2004 and was responsible for leading the overall security business P&L as well as corporate development. Originally, he joined F5 in 2000 as SVP of Marketing and Business Development.
Prior to F5, Mr. Pancottine served as Senior Vice President and Co-General Manager, Media Systems Group for RealNetworks. Before that, he was with Intel as Vice President of Business Marketing. His additional experience includes senior executive management positions at Sequent Computer Systems, Cray Research and Sequoia Systems.
Mr. Pancottine graduated with Honors from the University of California at Riverside with a B.S. in Computer Science, and received a Masters Degree in Computer Science from Cornell University.
Sandesh Patnam - Managing Partner, Bay Partners
Mr. Patnam is a Partner at Bay Partners. Prior, Sandesh was with TeleSoft Partners, where he co-led investments in Aarohi Communications (acquired by Emulex), Amberwave Systems, Redclover Networks, Sierra Design Automation, Validity Sensors, Xambala and Xpedion Design Systems (acquired by Agilent Technologies). He was also associated with Ikanos Communications (Nasdaq: IKAN), Lara Networks (acquired by Cypress Semiconductor), Catamaran (acquired by Infineon) and Empowertel (acquired by IP Unity).
Before TeleSoft, Mr. Patnam was at Malleable Technologies (acquired by PMC-Sierra), an early stage startup developing a VoIP chipset. There, he had a variety of roles from design engineering to product marketing. Prior, Mr. Patnam was at MIPS/Silicon Graphics, where he was involved in developing next-generation computing architectures and microprocessors. He has also spent time at Integrated Device Technologies (IDT), Cirrus Logic and Tandem Computers (acquired by HP).
Mr. Patnam graduated from the University of Rochester with a B.S., and an M.B.A. from Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Javier Rojas - Managing Director, Kennet Venture Partners
Javier Rojas is a managing director of Kennet Venture Partners and leads its US investment activities. He is currently on the board of NetPro Computing, MedeFinance, and Kapow Technologies.
Prior to joining Kennet, he was a managing director of Broadview International and led their West Coast software and services practice. Mr. Rojas specializes in advising high growth, early-stage companies on how to capitalize on emerging technology markets and partnering opportunities. He has invested and/or advised on a number of successful companies and high value exits including Etek, Webex, Looksmart, Blue Mountain Arts, When.com and Rightworks.
Previously, Mr. Rojas was with Morgan Stanley. Earlier, he founded a software firm that developed products for capital markets interest rate and currency swap traders.
He holds an MBA degree from The Harvard Business School and a BAS degree from Georgetown University.
